Options with Car Purchasing

As you begin to look for a new car, it can be helpful to learn more about your options and where you can purchase a car. There are two main places that you can buy a car from: individual sellers and car dealerships.

Individual sellers are found in classified ads in newspapers, online search engine results or websites like Craigslist, and through personal connections, whether family or friends. Most individual sellers don’t have the guarantee a well-known business would have, and you might not know what you are getting until you pay them the money – honesty isn’t usually an issue, but it can be. If you don’t have the chance to see the car before you purchase it, it could have problems you weren’t told about and it could be a piece of junk without you knowing it. If at all possible, make sure the car is seen by a mechanic before you purchase it.

Car dealerships, on the other hand, usually have lots of cars available on a lot where you can go look at them, drive them around, and just really get to know the car before you buy it. Some dealerships don’t care about their customers beyond selling them cars and making money, although some, like K G Suzuki and Northern Auto Traders, are focused on their customer. These are examples of great car dealerships with strong customer loyalty and a trusting relationship with each of their customers.

While both of these ways to purchase a car may get you great deals on a car, caution is best – dishonest dealings come from both places. But not all dealerships are alike – some actually care about their customers a ton, and those are the dealerships you need to search out. Individual sellers shouldn’t really be approached unless you are able to meet them and see the car before you buy it.
